Obituary for Ms. Deborah Ann Jones
Ms. Deborah Ann Jones, a beloved resident of Dothan, Alabama, departed this life and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the age of 69.
Deborah was born on November 22, 1955, to Minnie Pearl Ray and Willie D. Ray. She was the fifth of eight children. A proud graduate of Dothan High School, Class of 1973, Deborah was known for her hard work, caring spirit, and love for family.
In 1974, she was blessed with her only daughter, Felecia Dennis, while living in Dothan, Alabama. She worked in many positions throughout her life, including as a server at Leon's and the Sheraton Inn, and later as a dedicated employee of Michelin Tires in Midland City, Alabama, for many years. In 1984, Deborah relocated to Michigan to begin a new chapter, where she worked as a tax accountant and with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Deborah's hobbies included sewing and decorating, but above all she found joy in helping others by any means necessary. In 1998, she met the love of her life, Mr. Sylvester Jones. They married in 2000 and remained united until his passing in 2013.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Jones; her parents, Minnie and Willie D. Ray; her brother, Willie L. Ray; sisters, Karen and Myra; and sisters-in-law, Esther, Ruby, Vera, and Lottie.
Deborah's memory will be cherished by her daughter, Felecia Dennis; stepdaughters, Terry, Karen, and Taneisha; siblings, James Ray (Teresa), Betty Johnson, Steve Ray (Chong), and Pamela McGhee (Kelvin); one aunt, Terry Wainwright; uncles, Vernon (Deborah) Godson and Jimmie (Patricia) Godson; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; a special niece and "eating partner," Stephanie Tolver; and her dearest friends, Betty Wright and Mattie Calloway.
Deborah's life was a testament to love, perseverance, and faith. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.
